Everything You Need to Know about the Full Day Jeep Tour

The Full Day Jeep Tour, an 8 Hour Jeep Tour of the Wadi Rum desert, ist the fullest experience of the desert you can book when you visit Wadi Rum. Venture deep into the red desert, discover thousands of years of history, hike between scenic canyons and explore Bedouin culture and food.

Wadi Rum Jeep Tours
This pickup truck will take you to all the hot spots of the Wadi Rum desert.

Our Full Day Tour begins at 9 a.m. either in-camp or in Wadi Rum Village at our meeting point in front of Wadi Rum Rest House depending on your arrival time. One of our English-speaking Bedouin guides will welcome you and guide you to your jeep. Once you are all set to go, you can hop on and we head into the heart of the red desert.

The Stops along our Wadi Rum Jeep Tour

On the Full Day Jeep Tour, we will have the chance to discover all essential sights of the Wadi Rum desert. In total, this 8-hour Jeep Tour will take you to 10 of Wadi Rum’s most popular attractions:

Nabatean Temple

Starting from Wadi Rum Village, our first stop is the so-called Nabatean temple. It is one of the oldest archeological sights of the Wadi Rum desert and a testament to the Nabataean civilisation in Wadi Rum. Explore the temple and learn about the ancient history of this place.

Lawrence Spring

Not far from the temple, another remnant of Nabataean influence in Wadi Rum introduces another important character of Wadi Rum: T.E. Lawrence of Arabia. At Lawrence Spring their stories converge. The Nabataeans first discovered the spring, while Lawrence rediscovered it many years later.

At the foot of Lawrence Spring you will find ancient inscriptions made by the Nabataeans referred to a petroglyphs. They indicate the location of the spring further up the mountain. Climb up to see the spring that now quenches the thirst of dozens of camels every day.

Al-Khazali Canyon

After our short hike it is time to take a little break from the sun in Al-Kazali Canyon. This narrow canyon is the next stop on our tour and the perfect resting spot. It is barely three meters wide at point and provides a refuge for plants and animals alike.

Even during the midday heat, you will be able to enjoy fresh air and cold temperatures inside the canyon – the perfect conditions for discovering some Nabataean rock art on its walls. Your English-speaking guide will show you the intricate art that has survived on the sandstone for centuries.

Red Sand Dune

Red Sand Dune Wadi Rum
We present one of the best views of Wadi Rum, the Red Sand Dune.

Alongside canyons, sand dunes make the Wadi Rum landscape what it is. Therefore, it’s only right that the next stop on our Full Day Tour is the Red Sand Dune. This imposing dune, that accumulated on the side of a sandstone mountain, provides a fun little challenge for you.

Scramble up the dune to get the most amazing panoramic view of the Wadi Rum desert. Take in the views and get a snapshot for your family back home. On your way back, make sure to run down the sand dune for a guaranteed dose of adrenaline.

Little Rock Bridge

With every station of our tour we head deeper into the red desert of Wadi Rum. Our next stop, the Small Rock Bridge, lays close to the Red Sand Dune. There, you will be able to find another natural phenomenon special to Wadi Rum: a natural stone arch created by sandstone erosion.

Lawrence’s House

Wadi Rum desert pickup trucks
Way to go. With every station we head deeper into the Wadi Rum desert.

Tucked away between some unsuspecting sandstone mountains, our next destination is waiting for you. On a plateau, the stone remnants of what was once a house lay bare, alluding to Lawrence of Arabia’s stint in the Jordanian desert.

At Lawrence’s House, tourists pay homage to the man by placing a stack of stones on the plateau, before finding a resting spot close-by.

Lunch Break

Around noon, you do not want to be moving too quick in Wadi Rum. Your Bedouin guide will lead you to a shaded resting spot where you are welcome to take a rest, before enjoying a Bedouin lunch. Cooked right in the desert, it provides an energy boost for the second half of your Full Day Tour.

Mushroom Rock

Cat in Wadi Rum desert
Still curious? Time for the second leg of our desert exploration.

Don’t get too cozy though! There is much more to be discovered in the Wadi Rum desert. As you stretch your body after your well-deserved break, your guide will take you to a rare sight in the desert, the Mushroom Rock, a huge egg-shaped rock placed on a small rock pedestal – maybe by a giant?

Browse the close-by souvenir store for your very own Wadi Rum trinkets and engage in a game of volleyball, before getting back onto the Jeep to explore yet another part of Wadi Rum.

Abu Khashaba Canyon

After your volleyball warm-up, we will make sure that you get your blood pumping. At Abu Khashaba Canyon, you will get another chance to stretch your legs on a lengthy walk.

Abu Khashaba is a wide, open canyon in the Wadi Rum desert that is known for its mesmerising stone formations and flora and fauna. On your walk, you are welcome to bask in the shade of the mountain, before ascending the sand dune at its end.

Beyond the sand dune lays the challenge of the day: sandboarding on the dunes of Abu Khashaba Canyon. Take a board, ascend the dune and rush down in an adrenaline-filled ride. You do not want to miss sandboarding in Wadi Rum.

Burdah Rock Bridge and Umm Fruth Rock bridge

To top off your Full Day Tour, your guide will take you to two more natural stone arches, Burdah Rock Bridge and Umm Froth Bridge for some concluding travel pics, before taking you to a secluded sunset spot.

Kick back as your guide ignites a fire and prepares some tea. Witness the most amazing sunset, while sipping on some sweet Bedouin tea and engaging in conversation with your Bedouin guide and other travellers.

What’s included in the Full Day Tour?

Bedouin Tents in Wadi Rum
The Classic Bedouin Tents of our desert camp.

In your Full Day Tour package, not only the Jeep Tour and food for your lunch break are included. Besides lunch, you will also be served dinner in form of a Bedouin buffet after arriving at our Bedouin Camp.

As your desert adventure comes to a close, you will be invited to stay one night in your private tent in our Bedouin camp. Get a much-needed shower, enjoy dinner and find sleep in your comfortable bed – but not before witnessing the vivid Wadi Rum night sky.

The next morning, we invite you to have breakfast in our communal tent. We provide a buffet-style breakfast that is vegetarian-friendly, just like dinner. Have a tea or coffee and get ready for your next day in Wadi Rum. If you only booked the Jeep Tour with us, your guide will be ready to transfer you to Wadi Rum Village at 9 a.m.

If wish to stay two nights or book extra activities, you are most welcome to. Besides Jeep Tours, we offer camel rides at sunrise and sunset and hikes to Burdah Rock Bridge, Jabal Al Hash and Jabal Um Adami.
