What Makes a Good Café for Digital Nomads in Batumi?

Batumi has become quite the hub for digital nomads in recent years. More and more remote workers come to Batumi to have their part of the pleasant climate against a beach backdrop, the even more pleasant tax regime and the thriving specialty coffee scene.
But how does Batumi fare when it comes to working from cafés?
To answer this question, we first asked ourselves: What to even look for when finding good cafés for digital nomads in Batumi?
- Coffee: Good coffee makes a good café. We can all agree on that, right? And what makes a good coffee? High-quality, single-origin beans, experienced baristas and innovative coffee creations you might not find in any other coffee shop, for a start.
- Food: First, coffee, and then…? We all know the feeling of hunger creeping up on you, an hour into your work session. Once you reach that point, you will want to get your hands on something to eat, and it better not be a cookie.
- Staff: One could argue that, even more so than good coffee and tasty food, it’s the staff that makes a coffee shops actually stand out. In fact, often times, we remember our conversations in-between cups of coffee more so, than the work we did at the café.
- Laptop-Friendliness: While Batumi being popular among digital nomads means that there are a lot of laptop-friendly cafés, it also means there are cafés that are very adamant about their tables NOT being blocked by remote workers all day.
- WiFi & Plugs: One thing is finding a place where you are welcome to work from, another thing is having the stable internet connection and power outlets at your table to stay there. After all, there is only so much charging you can take care of with your power bank.
- Comfiness: Talking about staying at your café of choice, one cannot underestimate the comfort factor either. You ask why? Well, ask yourself: How much is the best, laptop-friendly really worth, if your butt starts to hurt just one hour after sitting down?
With these criteria in mind, you will not only be able to better understand why we like the cafés we like, but also be able to go out and find even more great coffee shops in Batumi by yourself, since we couldn’t have possibly tested all of them alone.

Kopi Specialty Coffee Roasters

For us, Kopi Specialty Coffee Roasters was love at first sight. When we returned to Batumi in late September, this was the first café we stumbled into and it immediately became our go-to choice for afternoon work sessions. But why?
Kopi Specialty Coffee Roasters combines everything we love about a good coffee shop: insanely good single origin coffee, delectable breakfast choices, the nicest staff and clear rules for those working on laptops. It’s not busy in the coffee shop? Work anywhere you like. It’s getting busy? Move to the bar to continue uninterrupted. It’s as easy as that.

Our recommendation: Join one of their coffee tastings to find the bean that best fits your taste.
Urban Roastery Ge

A little off the beaten track, the Urban Roastery is yet another no-brainer for coffee aficionados. Held in a beautiful modern-industrial style, this coffee shop is minimalist in terms of visuals, but undoubtedly maximalist in terms of taste.
At the Urban Roastery, you can find specialty coffee roasted in-house, great options for both breakfast and lunch and plenty of space upstairs to get some work under your belt. Another nice touch: There is free water for you to quench your thirst without feeling obligated to have yet another dose of caffeine.

Nord Coffee Base

One of our more recent finds, Nord Coffee Base might just be the closest you can get to co-working paradise. Located within walking distance of the Orbi City towers, this coffee shop has great potential to become your new morning work spot.
At Nord Coffee Base, you will find plenty of other digital nomads, a laptop-friendly layout and great coffee and food. While service can feel a bit impersonal at times, it does mean you never feel rush to have to order again, and if you do decide to get another coffee, you can order it from the comfort of your table.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Score | 4.5/5 | 5/5 | 3.5/5 | 5/5 | 5/5 | 4.5/5 | 4.6/5 |
Reason | More on the conventional side, some innovations | Outstanding choices for breakfast | Service can feel quite impersonal | Dedicated area for remote workers | Great Wi-Fi & all the power outlets you need | Very comfortable, but its gets full and noisy at times | One of the best options for getting stuff done in Batumi. |
Our recommendation: Feel like stretching your legs on the weekend? Join one of their coffee hikes and meet new people while out in nature.
Greejeen Coffee
We recently discovered that Greejeen Coffee is considered to be one of the best specialty coffee shops in all of Georgia, and honestly, we are not surprised at all. At Greejeen, coffee takes centre-stage, with plenty of hand-selected single origin coffees being up for grabs on the menu.
Before you start your work session, we urge you to take a moment to go through all the options. The variety of coffee you can find at Greejeen is genuinely impressive. As far as working goes, the downstairs area is laptop-friendly, with a handful of seats along the bar.
Coffee | Food | Staff | Laptop Friendly | Wi-Fi & Plugs | Comfiness | Overall Score | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Score | 5/5 | 4/5 | 5/5 | 4/5 | 5/5 | 4/5 | 4.5/5 |
Reason | Unmatched single-origin coffee selection | Modest selection of sweet and savoury meals | Passionate, patient and friendly | Laptop-friendly downstairs area, limited season | Free Wi-Fi & power outlets under the tables | Bar-seating only, not for long work sessions | Insanely good coffee, some compromise work wise. |
Our recommendation: Plenty of great Colombian coffees, just see what suits you best.
Nord Specialty Coffee

Located right in the heart of Old Batumi, this coffee shop is the furthest away from the Orbi City towers, but well-worth the walk. Nord Specialty is a quaint café in a quiet side street that shines with tasty coffee creations, including the Caucasian classic, RAF, and delicious sweet treats.
The quality of the coffee and the taste of the dessert will have you wanting to come back again and again, but beware: The place is quite small, so you might have to wait a little after arriving, before you can grab a table and get your work done.
Coffee | Food | Staff | Laptop Friendly | Wi-Fi & Plugs | Comfiness | Overall Score | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Score | 5/5 | 3.5/5 | 5/5 | 4/5 | 4/5 | 4/5 | 4.3/5 |
Reason | Shines in the coffee department | Rather limited in the food department | Lovely & patient staff | Laptop-positive, but limited space | Good Wi-Fi & some power outlets | Very cozy, but don’t get too cozy, in case it gets buy | Cute little place, great coffee, less so for meetings. |
Our recommendation: They do a great rendition of pastel de nata, give it a try.
LeeLoo Coffee Club
A proper random discovery, LeeLoo is one of the coffee shops in Batumi we actually found by accident, not after researching on Google Maps first. Quite refreshing, isn’t it? While still relatively unknown, LeeLoo is a café Batumi’s coffee community will be putting on the map very soon. Mark my words.
At LeeLoo Coffee Club, you can find tasty hot & cold coffee, a BUNCH of syrups to add and a selection of regional desserts. Upstairs, there is plenty of space to get some work done, with plenty of power outlets right next to the tables. It does quite warm up there, though.
Coffee | Food | Staff | Laptop Friendly | Wi-Fi & Plugs | Comfiness | Overall Score | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Score | 4.5/5 | 4/5 | 5/5 | 5/5 | 4/5 | 4/5 | 4.4/5 |
Reason | Not quite top-tier, but genuinely tasty | Great regional classics, but on the sweet side | Lovely & passionate barista | Plenty of space upstairs | Power outlets under the tables | Comfy enough, but too warm at times | Not-so-famous (yet) coffee shop. |
Our recommendation: Try some of the regional specials: RAF coffee and Kyiv cake.
LIVI Coffee & Desserts

Being the last new coffee shop we checked out during our most recent stay in Batumi, we didn’t have very high expectations. Since it was quite the overcast afternoon, we were simply looking for a cup of coffee in a cozy spot. But LIVI delivered so much more than that.
LIVI Coffee & Desserts offers top-tier coffee and desserts at a very competitive price, scores with its cozy interior and even features a large co-working desk at the back of the café. Luckily for you, LIVI is still quite unknown, meaning that you can advantage of all these perks without the crowds of digital nomads you tend to see elsewhere in Batumi.
Coffee | Food | Staff | Laptop Friendly | Wi-Fi & Plugs | Comfiness | Overall Score | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Score | 4.5/5 | 4/5 | 4/5 | 5/5 | 4.5/5 | 5/5 | 4.5/5 |
Reason | More conventional coffee choice, but great pricing | Great sweet treats, some savoury options | Friendly enough, self-service | Laptops welcome in all of the store | Free Wi-Fi & scattered power outlets around | Cozy atmosphere, great to stick around, open till late | Very cozy (and economical) workspace for the day. |
Our recommendation: Try one of the Russian cake classics, such as the honey cake or the meringue roll.
KIOSK Coffee Shop

We were debating with ourselves for a while, if we should add KIOSK to this list, even though it’s one of our favourite coffee shops in Batumi, without a doubt. But then again, it’s very small. And it might not be the best spot to spend the day working from. But then again, we really liked it. Just keep that in mind.
KIOSK Coffee Shop is a small café in the center of Batumi, featuring some seating, both inside and outside, carefully brewed single-origin cups and some seriously delicious homemade, and supposedly healthy, snacks. Whether you are looking for a slow start to the day, a place to read at or some simple sketching and planning as the pedestrians stroll by, KIOSK is your way to go.
Coffee | Food | Staff | Laptop Friendly | Wi-Fi & Plugs | Comfiness | Overall Score | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Score | 5/5 | 4/5 | 5/5 | 2.5/5 | 2.5/5 | 4/5 | 3.8/5 |
Reason | Outstanding single-origin coffee | Great ‘healthy’ desserts, limited savoury options | The sweetest staff | Not for longer work sessions | Very limited space, no Wi-Fi | Very comfortable outside of winter | Perfect to start the day, suboptimal for long work sessions |
Our recommendation: We’ve been recommending a lot of cake, and we’ll keep doing so. Try their chocolate snack bars, seriously.

The Best Areas in Batumi for Digital Nomads
Haven’t booked your stay in Batumi, yet? Consider staying in one of these neighbourhoods to have some of the best co-working options nearby. Personally, we stayed in Orbi City, but there are also other great spots for remote workers in Batumi.
These are the best areas in Batumi for remote workers:
- Orbi City: The best neighbourhood in Batumi for digital nomads is Orbi City. The sea-facing apartment blocks feature lots of affordable studio apartments, and there are plenty of great cafes within 10 minutes walking of the towers such as Greejeen and Nord Coffee Base.
- Batumi Central Park: Nudged in-between Downtown Batumi and the newer built-up Orbi City area, Batumi Central Park and the neighbouring streets have a much calmer vibe. Around here, you can find plenty of lesser frequented cafés such as LIVI, KIOSK and LeeLoo.
- Old Batumi: While Batumi’s historic core holds many of the city’s main attractions, but in terms of working remotely it’s suboptimal. We found the coffee shops in the centre to be less affordable and less laptop-friendly. But then again, there are hidden gems such as NORD Specialty Coffee.
